So I picked up a book called "Sculpted Threads" a few weeks ago and I had to give the technique a try. I didn't quite follow the patterns in the book, just the general technique. I think this little guy came out pretty neat. It's about 4" across and has several large and many small ripples. I like the way the center is solid black and the rest is many many layers of overlapping red rayon and black cotton threads. It is literally made only of thread - water dissolvable stabilizer is used for the stitching and then washed away, which helps this piece hold it's shape. It could be used as a desk ornament, used to hold business cards, or even worn as a brooch.
This item has not yet been listed on Etsy since I'm trying to come up with a good name for it. So here's the mini contest: If you have any suggestions for a name, please contribute! The "winner" will get 10% off anything in my shop.

I like this, It would be great on a hat or a knitted handbag. Looks a bit poppyish, I'm not good at names so maybe someone else can come up with something really catchy but I love the little flowery thing.
